Travel Vaccines

It is with regret that we are not currently able to offer a full travel vaccination service. We do apologise for any inconvenience caused. We will update our website again when we are in the position to offer this full service. In the meantime, we are able to offer the following vaccines:

  • Cholera
  • Hepatitis A
  • Paratyphoid
  • Poliomyelitis
  • Smallpox
  • Typhoid

How can I check what vaccinations I need?

The NHS has a very comprehensive web-site, giving the information you need to identify any vaccines advised for trips abroad, and ensure that you stay as healthy as possible. This can be found at https://travelhealthpro.org.uk/. Enter your destinations and view the advice.

What vaccinations have I already had?

If you are unsure what vaccinations you have already received, we will be happy to supply you with a print out free of charge but you will have to attend the surgery to obtain this.  We do not email information from patient records. Details of your immunisations may also be viewed online by registering for online access.  Please speak to our reception team about this. If you have no home internet access, you may be able to use computers in the local libraries.

Hepatitis A – if you have had two vaccinations, you are covered for life from the 2nd dose.

Diphtheria, tetanus & polio – booster required every 10 years (for travel purposes only).

Typhoid – booster required every 3 years (for travel purposes only)

What if I need travel vaccinations?

Travel vaccinations may be necessary for exotic or unusual destinations, complex travel itineraries, or long stay vacations. These can to be given at a high street travel clinic (e.g., Nomad, Masta and STA Travel) and some large pharmacies. There will be a charge for these.

We strongly advise you to check your requirements at least three months before travel, as sometimes a course of up to three vaccinations needs to be given over the course of several weeks.

It is your responsibility to ascertain which vaccinations (and, if relevant, anti-malaria tablets) you need, and also to inform yourself fully of recommended travel safe precautions.
