• To ensure that all patients receive the appropriate level of care
• To direct patients to see the most appropriate person to meet their needs.

New Healthcare Navigators help patients receive health care faster!
Ringing your GP practice for an appointment to see the GP can sometimes seem like a ‘lottery’.
There is a lot happening right now at our surgery to make sure that when you need to see a GP you have access to one quickly and in a way that suits you, be that in person or over the phone.
Sometimes though, the GP isn’t really the best person to see.
You could be seen and treated quicker by a nurse.
Your condition could be seen and better assessed by a physiotherapist.
The medication you’re on could be interacting negatively with the other tablets you’re taking and seeing a pharmacist who is based within the practice could help get you on the right dosage to manage your symptoms quicker.
In some cases, the GP practice might not even be the best place at all for your health or care queries. But let’s face it; the majority of us are not doctors or health professionals. We can’t be expected to navigate the system with all of our ailments and questions.
When you next call the practice for an appointment our trained staff will ask what the problem is. This isn’t to be nosy but it’s so they can help you get to the right health professional within the practice for your needs. They also have a lot of information and knowledge about services outside of the GP practice that can help too if you need that.
What other services are we able to navigate our patients to?
Pharmacy: Visiting your pharmacy first will also help to free up valuable GP time, which can be used to deal with more complex or serious health needs. A pharmacist will always advise you if they think you need to see a doctor.
Physiotherapy: You may be directed to this service if you have symptoms arising from muscles, joints or bones, such as back pain, neck pain or a sports injury.
